About Saul

Saul Ayon has spent his life protecting and serving the people of California’s Central Valley.

From 25 years in law enforcement to leading McFarland as Mayor, Saul has proven he gets results — not with politics, but with accountability, integrity, and hard work.

Now he’s ready to take that same trusted and fair leadership  to the Sacramento — to fight for safer streets, affordable living, clean water, and a stronger future for every family in the Valley.

For over 25 years, he served in the Kern County Sheriff’s Department, where he became a respected Special Emergency Response Team Leader, academy instructor, and gang prevention expert. After retiring, he turned his experience into teaching — becoming a Criminal Justice Instructor at McFarland High School, mentoring the next generation of leaders.

In 2020, Saul was elected to the McFarland City Council, and in 2022, he became Mayor. Under his leadership, McFarland:

  • Eliminated a $2.9 million budget deficit
  • Rebuilt its police department from just 3 to over 30 personnel
  • Secured over $60 million in grants for infrastructure, water, and public safety
  • Created youth internship and apprenticeship programs for students
  • Saul’s leadership is guided by three simple principles: Service, Accountability, and Results.
He believes that government should work for the people, not the other way around.

“I’ve always felt called to help people…from serving 25 years in the Kern County Sheriff’s Department to mentoring kids as a high school Criminal Justice Instructor, I’ve dedicated my life to protecting, guiding, and standing up for the community. I’m ready to take that same dedication to Sacramento and fight for families, farmers, and small businesses”

-Mayor Saul Ayon
